Description

Warming, spicy, satisfying, and such a powerful health booster! Get cozy with this tasty turmeric golden milk and drink in all its goodness!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 cups plant milk of choice (soy or oat are our choices)
  • 2 tsp ground turmeric (see notes if using fresh)
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (or 1 cinnamon stick)
  • 1/8 tsp ground ginger
  • pinch of black pepper (for better turmeric absorption)
  • optional: 1/2 – 1 tsp maple syrup (adjust to taste and depending on sweetness of your chosen milk)

*All the ingredients for this recipe are from our pantry and freezer tips!

Instructions

  1. Pour your milk into a saucepan and set over medium-low heat. Whisk your spices into the milk. Adding a pinch of black pepper helps your body to better absorb the benefits of the turmeric and you won’t be able to taste the pepper.
  2. Once you start seeing wisps of steam coming off your milk, after about 5 minutes, it’s heated through. You want to avoid it boiling as that can cause your milk to develop a skin on top.
  3. If you want foam on top, you can quickly use an immersion blender or even carefully transfer the hot liquid to your standing blender if it can process hot foods. Alternatively, whisking it vigorously will provide some foam.
  4. If you don’t like having the spices gather at the bottom of your latte you can strain the liquid as you pour it into your mug.
  5. Serve hot, with the cinnamon stick if desired, and enjoy!

Notes

*Approximate Cost: CAD $1.59 ($0.78/serving) vs. CAD $5 – $7 each if purchased from a cafe.

*For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper and omit the maple syrup.

*If using fresh turmeric and ginger. You can try 2 tbsp fresh turmeric and about ¾ tbsp fresh ginger. Strain the milk through a sieve to serve.
