Description

Use that fresh mint growing out of control in your garden for this refreshing matcha! Delicious served hot or cold!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 cup plant milk of choice
  • 8-12 mint leaves* (or 1/4 tsp pure peppermint extract)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 tsp matcha powder*
  • Ice cubes (to preference)

*Ingredients you need that are not part of our pantry and freezer tips.

Instructions

  1. Add the milk, fresh mint leaves, maple syrup, and vanilla to a blender and blend to break down the mint leaves.
  2. Add in the matcha powder and blend again to combine everything smoothly.
  3. For a cold matcha: pour over ice, garnish with more fresh mint, and enjoy!
  4. For a hot matcha: heat in a small pot on the stovetop over low heat until steam rises off the milk. Be careful to not boil the milk. Pour into a mug and enjoy!

Notes

Approximate Cost: $1.30 Canadian using fresh mint from my garden. Using peppermint extract would add about 10 cents to my cost. In comparison, a tall (small) matcha latte from a cafe costs me over $5.
