Notes

*Cost Comparison: Approximately $1.13 CAD ($0.57/serving) for base oatmeal vs. $2.50 or more if we purchase oatmeal from a cafe. If topping with ¼ cup toasted walnuts, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1 additional banana, and 1/4 cup extra blueberries the cost goes up to: $1.92 ($0.96/serving).

*If using steel-cut oats, combine ¾ cup oats with 1½ cup water. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cook for 7 minutes. Add blueberries, banana, maple syrup, and spices and cook for an additional 3 minutes until oats are tender. For creamier oats, add ¼ cup plant milk. Using steel-cut oats brings the cost of this oatmeal to: $2.19 CAD (roughly, $1.10/serving).
