Description

This pink apple beet smoothie bowl reminds us of the classic “cinnamon heart” candies! A subtle cinnamon spice makes this perfect for fall!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 small or medium sized roasted beet (the larger the beet the darker the colour will be)*
  • 1 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1 cup oat milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 2 cups frozen apple slices
  • optional toppings: diced apple, dried cranberries, toasted pecans or walnuts, and chia seeds!

*Fresh ingredients you need that are not part of our pantry and freezer tips.

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients to your blender.
  2. Pulse a few times to break down the frozen pieces. Then blend until smooth.
  3. Spoon into bowls and top with diced apple, cranberries, toasted pecans, chia seeds or however you desire!

Notes

*Approximate Cost: $2.19 CAD ($1.10 each) for the smoothie base. Even with the added toppings, this smoothie bowl recipe offers big savings compared to the $6 – $12 a smoothie bowl costs us if we purchase it out.

*Using fresh fruit will make a less frosty and thick smoothie. Try adding 1/2 – 1 cup ice cubes to thicken it. You can also start with less milk and add more as needed to help the smoothie blend.

*The rolled oats create a chunkier texture to this smoothie bowl but we love that it feels filling and cozy. For a completely smooth texture, feel free to omit the oats and sub with fresh berries.

*Using a peeled, raw beet is possible. It will just taste less sweet and result in a less smooth texture. We much prefer the taste and texture of a roasted beet.
