Adding herbs and spices to rice or other grains as they cook is one of my favourite ways to boost the flavour of simple side dishes! This yellow turmeric rice recipe is such a simple way to add a boost of colour and nutrition!

How To Make Yellow Turmeric Rice

I love using brown jasmine or basmati rice for this yellow turmeric rice recipe. My brown jasmine rice cooks in 25 minutes but white rice will certainly cook quicker. You can adapt the directions for this recipe to suit the type of rice you are using.

  • Rinse and drain the rice you are using until the water runs clean.
  • Combine the rice and appropriate amount of water.
  • Bring to a low boil.
  • Stir in the seasonings (turmeric, salt, and dash of black pepper).
  • Lower the heat to a very gentle simmer and cover the pot.
  • Cook for 25 minutes or however long is indicated on your package of rice.
  • When cooked, fluff with a fork, and serve!
