We love this blueberry pear smoothie recipe for a refreshing mid-afternoon brain boost! It’s:
Quick & Easy
Packed With Antioxidant Power
A Memory Booster
Refreshing And Creamy With A Sweet Hint Of Cardamom
And A Fun Blast Of Colour!
Ingredients For This Blueberry Pear Smoothie
This blueberry pear smoothie recipe makes 2 generous servings and uses:
- Frozen blueberries
- A large pear (fresh or frozen)
- 1 frozen banana
- 2 cups plant milk of choice (feel free to sub with water for a less “creamy” taste)
- Maple syrup
- And a hint of cardamom for an extra antioxidant power boost
*If you don’t have frozen blueberries or banana you can use fresh. The smoothie will be less “frosty” so you can add in some ice cubes to chill it a bit! Either add ice in addition to the plant milk or start with 1 cup milk and 1 cup ice (adding more milk if needed to help the smoothie blend).
What Makes It Powerful
Blueberries are often called a “superfood”!
- If you’re interested in the specific health benefits of blueberries this healthline article, “10 Proven Health Benefits of Blueberries”, has the info for you. The huge amount of antioxidants packed into these little berries offers big benefits all around. One benefit is a boost to brain function which is maybe why we love this smoothie as an afternoon pick me up!
Pears are also a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant rich fruit!
- We don’t peel the pear for this recipe because the skin holds a ton of power! It blends down smoothly and will make sure you’re getting the full boost of goodness from your pear. For 9 Health and Nutrition Benefits of Pears take a look at this healthline article.
And we add a pinch of tasty, powerful cardamom!
- Cardamom is one of the pricier spices in our pantry BUT a little goes a long way! It has an intense flavour and aroma that is sweet and spicy (to me, it’s kind of like a cross between cinnamon and mint).
- It is also high in anti-oxidants and this healthline article with the 10 Health Benefits of Cardamom will run you through all the nutritional info.
- We find that cardamom offers a bit more of a refreshing taste than cozy cinnamon so we love adding a dash to this creamy, frosty, blueberry pear smoothie recipe!
Toss all these powerful ingredients in your blender and blend up a fun purple brain boosting pick me up! Let us know in the comments below how you like it!
