Why Make This Oatmeal
Well… it’s tasty, it’s thrifty, and it’s timely!
- Fresh or frozen blueberries and sliced banana provide the fruity goodness.
- Chia seeds add an extra boost of superfood magic.
- Our beloved Canadian maple syrup provides a bit of added sweetness and taste of home.
- And you can top it off with toasted walnuts and peanut butter for an extra punch of protein and nutty warmth!
Recipe Cost For Blueberry Banana Oatmeal
Two servings of these quick oats cost us $1.13 CAD. That’s $0.57 a serving!
If we load it up with toppings and add ¼ cup toasted walnuts, 1 tablespoon peanut butter, an extra banana, and another ¼ cup of blueberries… our cost goes up to: $1.92 CAD or $0.96/serving.
If we purchase oatmeal from a cafe it will cost us, at least, $2.50/serving. And if I do say so myself… it probably doesn’t look or taste as good as this one!
Time Needed
7 minutes start to finish. That’s about it!
- The beauty of using quick cooking oats is just that! They’re quick.
- Using frozen blueberries means we can enjoy this oatmeal off-season and not pay more for fresh, out-of-season blueberries.
- And this blueberry banana oatmeal can easily be made as overnight oats and ready for you in the morning!
For another overnight oat recipe, take a look at our PB Banana Chip Oats. Swap out the chocolate chips for blueberries, decrease the amount of peanut butter, and add in a touch of cinnamon and cardamom!
