How To Make 3 Minute Avocado Lime Dressing
Is this dressing really made in 3 minutes or less?
It is! This dressing really couldn’t be easier. I even tend to use my immersion blender for an even easier clean up then my stand up blender.
- First, add the flesh of your avocado to the blender.
- Slice your avocado lengthwise and twist the two halves to loosen them from the pit. The pit will likely stay in one half. To remove the pit, push on the back of the avocado to push the pit out OR carefully strike the pit with your knife, twist, and pull the pit up and out. Now you scoop out the flesh from the peel.
- Add the remaining ingredients to the blender, starting with the lesser amount of water.
- Blend until the dressing is creamy and smooth.
- Add more water as desired to reach your preferred consistency.
How To Store Leftover Avocado Dressing
But what happens if you have leftovers? Avocados are notoriously difficult to keep bright and green. If an acid is not added to the avocado flesh it will oxidize very quickly and turn brown.
To keep leftovers of this dressing bright and green:
- Store the leftovers in an airtight container in your fridge and make sure to squeeze a thin layer of lime juice over the top of the dressing.
- The dressing should keep very well, without any change, for 1 day. I find that after 1 day the dressing will start to brown.
Recipe Cost
This easy avocado lime dressing makes 1 cup of dressing and costs us approximately: CAD $2.00.
We love using this dressing in place of the avocado crema on my Sweet Potato Black Bean Tacos. The Avocado Lime Crema is delicious but if you don’t have vegan sour cream on hand (or the time to make my 4 Ingredient Cashew Sour Cream) then this dressing is a fantastic quick and easy option.
*I created a version of this recipe in partnership with Miski Good Foods using their dehydrated lime juice powder. If you struggle to keep fresh limes on hand and want an alternative to lime juice from concentrate; Miski’s 100% natural lime juice is a great alternative for you! This dehydrated lime juice is a pantry staple for me because it is so much easier to keep on hand than fresh limes, has a long shelf-life, and the taste is far superior to lime juice from concentrate.
This easy avocado lime dressing is also delicious over a Tofu Breakfast Scramble, this amazing Watermelon “Tuna” Poke Bowl, or to lighten a Roasted Vegetable Salad.

Instructions
- Slice the avocado in half lengthwise. Twist the two halves to loosen the flesh from the pit. To remove the pit, either push on the back of the avocado to push the pit out or carefully strike the pit with your knife, twist, and pull the pit up and out.
- Scoop the avocado flesh into your blender.
- Add the remaining ingredients, starting with the lesser amount of water.
- Blend until smooth and creamy, adding additional water as desired to achieve the thickness you would like.
- Taste and adjust to your preference with more lime juice, salt, or other seasonings.
- Leftovers are best stored in the fridge with lime juice squeezed onto the top of the dressing to slow the browning. I find that the dressing will keep well in the fridge for 1 day before it begins to slowly brown.
- Try this dressing in place of the avocado crema on my Sweet Potato Black Bean Tacos, or add it to salads, buddha bowls, or even a cold pasta salad that will be enjoyed right away.
