This miso maple tahini dressing is ready in 5 minutes or less and made all in one bowl! It’s:
Quick and Mess Free
Rich, Creamy, & Sweet
Ready In 5 Minutes

And Make It Oil-Free!
Ingredients
Thick tahini is the base of this dressing.
Tahini is a sesame paste made from ground toasted sesame seeds. Most traditionally, it is used to thicken hummus! It can be a fantastic creamy substitute for anyone with a nut allergy as long as you ensure your brand is made in a nut-free facility.
A really good tahini brand could be tasty to eat straight from the jar, like peanut butter, BUT I find the taste to be a little too bitter for my liking. And in all honesty…
This dressing on its own won’t have me eating spoonfuls BUT… added to other dishes… this dressing will take the flavour to a whole new level!
If you’re new to using tahini, The Spruce Eats has a, “What Is Tahini And How Is It Used?”, post with some more information for you!
Salty, Savoury Miso Paste
Miso is a fermented soybean paste with a rich, salty, and savoury taste.
Miso is a versatile flavour booster!
If you’ve never used miso in your kitchen you may be familiar with the popular Japanese miso soup. Having this flavourful paste in your fridge means you can add a deep, salty, savoury flavour to your soups, dressings, and marinades.
*It’s best to dissolve miso in a splash of water before adding it to soups. For this recipe, you can either dissolve the miso in hot water before adding the rest of the ingredients OR… if you’re like me and you forget to do that… everything will be ok! The addition of warm water will mean you can still dissolve the paste into a smooth dressing.
The Spruce Eats also has a nice post with some more info on Miso And How To Use It.
And Maple Syrup For The Sweetness!
Maple syrup is a tasty natural sweetener made from the sap of maple trees.
It has a deep caramel taste and amber colour.
We use maple syrup to sweeten just about everything!
Once opened, store your maple syrup in the fridge to preserve its freshness and add it to just about any dish for a deep, sweet, caramel-like flavour!
How To Make Miso Maple Tahini Dressing
It’s easy, mess free, and ready in 5 minutes or less!
Simply add all the ingredients to a small bowl and stir to combine!
*If you remember… you can add the miso paste and the water first, stir to dissolve the miso, then add the remaining ingredients. If you forget to dissolve the miso first… don’t panic! The dressing will still combine smoothly.

Description
This miso maple tahini dressing is ready in 5 minutes and made in one bowl. Add rich flavour to your dishes with quick mess-free prep!
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp miso paste
- 2 tbsp warm water (or more to thin)
- ¼ cup tahini
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp maple syrup (or more to taste)
- optional: ½ teaspoon sesame oil (provides a richer smoother taste but can omit for an oil-free dressing).
*All the ingredients for this recipe are from our pantry and freezer tips!
Instructions
- Either dissolve the miso with the two tablespoon warm water first, then add the remaining ingredients.
- Or… add everything together all at once and the warm water will still make sure the miso dissolves smoothly.
- Taste and adjust the dressing to your preference. Add more maple syrup for sweetness or lemon juice for tang, and sesame oil for a nutty smooth flavour.
- Use immediately, or store in the fridge for about 5-7 days. The sauce will thicken as it sits so just stir in a little more water before using to make it pourable again.
